TV Road

from Unimpressed by Glenn Robinson

about

The idea for this song was thought of on a drive down to Florida in 2013. We passed an exit for TV Road in South Carolina. I thought it would make a cool song title. I ended up keeping in my back pocket for a few years.

It wasn't until the winter of 2016 where I actually sat down and wrote the song. At the time, I was listening to the eight completed tracks for this record and tried to fill in the gaps of what was missing.

I wanted to write a song that started abruptly with an awkward pace but then bursts into a super clean and melodic chorus. Just to make things a little strange, I used a sound clip from an LSD experiment on some housewife in the 1950's. Her banter really inspired the lyrics to this song.

lyrics

LYRICS:

TV Road is a place we go
Where there's static in the skies
The technicolor pavement
Really burns into your eyes
The channels always changing
Cause my attention span is shit
A marathon of seizures and colors
Makes me feel sick

I'll take you to
Where the lights are blue
Do you want to go to TV Road?
