I Really Shouldn't Bother

from Modern Mistakes by Glenn Robinson

/

about

This was the only new song I had when I recorded the ‘Total Fiasco’ E.P. I was messing around, trying to write stuff, and out of nowhere I just started singing ‘I really shouldn’t bother, I really should know…”. I wasn’t writing from any personal experience at the time. I just liked the way the words flowed together. So naturally, I had to write appropriate lyrics to fit the title.

lyrics

I REALLY SHOULDN'T BOTHER

Can't you tell me what just lies ahead
Let me get inside your mind
Don't leave me hanging waiting for more
Don't let me waste my time
And I won't waste yours
I'm gonna get my shit together one of these days
And I promise that I'll stay true
If you're gonna fuck me over then that's OK
Cause if I'm gonna get screwed
I'll be glad it was you and I

I really shouldn't bother
I really should know
I really shouldn't bother
I know I'll go and I'll blow it all again

Can't you tell me what is wrong right here
And I'll gladly hold up my end
If we're waiting around then we're trouble bound
And I just can't pretend to only be your friend

Now I'm blankly staring at the wall all night
Rehashed all your words a thousand times
I could not make any sense
It doesn't make a difference
Now you're gone and I am all alone
