I felt that that the album was going back and forth between pop songs and heavier songs. I wanted something that bridged the gap a bit, like "The Worst". I dug into my endless stash of unfinished ideas and came up with this riff I first recorded in 2007. Coincidentally, the demo had the riff of this song, and the bridge of 'Desperate With Standards" as the chorus. Pretty crazy how it all ended up on one album, years later.
